ANIMALS AND BIRDS

On my 'About' page, you will read the story of my involvement with a tiny, orphan elephant in Sri Lanka who I found in 2003 and had to adopt.  The elephant paintings here depict life in the Elephant Transit Home, where the babies are cared for by a supremely dedicated staff.

You may purchase work securely through my Saatchi Online gallery.  PRICES INCLUDE PACKING AND DELIVERY WORLDWIDE

THE NEW ARRIVAL

When a new orphaned baby elephant arrives at The Transit Home, all the other elephants are very curious and one or two will stay close and soothe it by stroking with their trunks.  Eventually when it is strong enough to join the rest of the orphans out by the lake, it will be 'adopted' by another older elephant and nurtured and protected by her (it is usually a her)! This is a composite by the artist (artistic licence allowed here)! The tiny elephant at the front is Flo when I first found her, the two either side are her at one year old and the larger ones are pre-release elephants before they go back to the wild at about 4 years old and fully weaned.
