Sculpture - a new challenge!
Time for a new challenge! Having spent the past 25 years painting animals and habitat, mostly in oils and acrylics, I really wanted a change of direction, so a couple of years ago I went on a short course on animal sculpture using clay. When I came home I was absolutely hooked on the medium and have just kept experimenting with various clays and these are the results. Each one is absolutely unique and are therefore one-of-a-kind.

This lovely boy is the first orang utan I worked. His 'fur' is made by squishing clay through a garlic press! He is not for sale! He is 12" x 12" x 12" all round!

WORK IN PROGRESS
All these pieces are now awaiting a visit to the kiln to be fired. They are the latest pieces and are larger and have presence as stand out pieces. The two great apes are part of a collection I am working on called 'Mothers' and are giving me a huge amount of pleasure and excitement in their execution. These large pieces are very heavy and will probably be mounted on wooden bases. They will all be available later in the year, but measurements are given for you to see the size.
